Five Months at the Table is Great!

Hello, friends!

We have officially been open for 5 months!!!!!! How crazy is that? I can't believe it. Time flies when good things are happening and boy are good things happening here at A Place at the Table. I know many of you have questions and have asked over the past few weeks. I gathered a list, but please feel free to reach out to me personally with more if you have them.

Truly, how are things going?
Things are amazing.  You are making things amazing. Thank you for continuing to dine with us, giving us feedback on the food and cafe itself, and paying it forward. It is WORKING!

How many people are using tokens and/or volunteering for their meal?
We see anywhere from 15-30 people coming in each day to volunteer for a meal or use a token. This number is growing each week. Many people are coming back both because they love the food and the community. The relationships that are being formed are invaluable. I can't even tell you the amount of times per week I get told, "Thank you, Maggie, for providing a place for me to feel a part of, a place I feel important."

How many staff members and volunteers do you have? How do I sign up to volunteer?
We have 7 current staff members: Josh, Julian, Chris, Aaron, Sajad, Carter and myself.
We see hundreds of volunteers a month. Thank you to everyone for signing up to volunteer with us. We could not do this work without you. Below are May and June signups. Take a look and continue to check back because it does change on a daily basis with cancellations. You can also find all signups on our website here.

How can I help?

  • Dine with us

  • Bring in friends to dine with us...can you say brunch on Saturday over waffles and bacon?

  • Share our social media (see bottom of newsletter for our social media handles)

  • Donate financially- In order to do this work, we need to fundraise. Donate or become a monthly sustainer on our website and tip or make a donation at the register when you dine with us.

  • Schedule your meetings, clubs, bible studies, luncheons, and any other community group at A Place at the Table. We have the space for your large group! Email if you are interested.

Please let me know what other questions you have. Thank you for supporting us these past few months and continuing to believe in us! You are making a place at the table possible for everyone.

We may wonder
Whom can I love and serve?
Where is the face of God
to whom I can pray?
The answer is simple.
That naked one.
That lonely one.
That unwanted one
is my brother and my sister.
If we have no peace,
it is because
we have forgotten
that we belong to each other.
-Mother Teresa
