Friends,
How is already almost February 2024? Last year was a dream, and we could not have done it without you. Thank you for being our corner, cheering us on–always.
We’re also so thankful for your support during The Kelly Clarkson Show. We’ve been overwhelmed (in a good way!) with the amount of you who have sent kind messages or popped by the cafe. And we’ve been wow-ed by the number of people who have reached out across the country wanting to do this work too in their own communities too. We’re hoping that in a few years, we’ll be visiting 4 or 5 more pay-what-you-can cafes across the country.
And as we announced on the show, we’ve got a big launch coming in 2024: Table Food Truck! Truly, what could be better than adding even more places around the table? Exact date for the launch is TBD, but it’ll happen sometime this year. Right now, we’re gathering the necessities to make it happen: sponsors, potential truck locations, the truck itself, and youth serving organizations that we’ll get the beautiful opportunity to work with. I said it in the previous newsletter, but I’ll say it again: please let us know if you’d like to be involved with food truck preparations or want to hear more about ways you can join the fun.
Two other fun updates:
1. We have DELICIOUS seasonal items right now in the cafe. You cannot beat the local seasonal salad made with greens from our partner, Raleigh City Farm. It has beets, cranberries, candied walnuts, green onions, goat cheese, and a delicious homemade vinaigrette. I am ordering it daily, so you better come grab one before I get them all 🙂
2. We renovated! Pop by the cafe and take a peek at our new chairs, tables, and fresh new look! Thanks to everyone for the support with cafe closures and design ideas.
Thank you again for your constant support. As I mentioned above, a few folks reached out wanting to open up pay-what-you-can cafes, and the first thing I say to them is “Don’t do it alone; you need your community. And it is so much better in community.”.
Thank you for making sure we never had to do it alone. You and this community have always had our back, and I know you’ll continue to, in all that we do. Bring it on, Table Food Truck!
With gratitude,
Maggie
P.S. Our team went to the Hurricanes Game last week and had a blast!
