Hey Table fam!!
We’re in the lead up to our biggest fundraiser of the year, and I’m already dreaming of the incredible eats from Rocky Top Catering and the best part of all: getting to spend an evening with YOU, the most wonderful supporters I could ask for! A huge shoutout to all the sponsors that have joined in already. We wouldn’t be here without you.
And preparing for this event always takes me back to our WHY. Not in a mission statement kind of way. In a PEOPLE kind of way. Here’s what I mean.
Years ago, James came in with his two kids for breakfast. He’s a single dad who found us when finances got tight.
As his daughter ate waffles and his son dove into a plate of eggs, he turned to us and said something we’ll never forget:
“It’s not just the food. My kids feel comfortable here. Like we’re just a normal family out for breakfast, not a family barely scraping by. Boy it matters.”
Then he smiled: “Also, my girl loves the salad. And I’m not gonna lie, I’m here for the cinnamon roll.”
I think about that family all the time–a kid who chooses salad over a cinnamon roll. A dad who dreams about that cinnamon roll. And a place where they can both enjoy exactly what they want. A place for all of them to come together to eat both.
That’s what we do here. We create a place where everyone belongs. No judgment. No separation. Just good food and genuine community. (Also, if you come with kids, there’s a good chance you’ll get bombarded by hugs. Everybody knows I have a soft spot for the kiddos…)

Live auction with the fabulous Ben and all of your awesome donated auction items. An evening with people who believe in dignity and community. All proceeds go directly toward keeping meals flowing and doors open for families like James’ and guests who’re looking for something real.
