The Line’s Getting Longer.

Hey friend,

If you’ve been around here for any amount of time, you know Table isn’t just a meal.

It’s a café, with hot lattes, warm waffles, and regulars we’re glad to see each other. They’re neighbors in the purest sense of the word–people who care about each other.

When you picture A Place at the Table, I hope you don’t just see food. I hope you see dignity. Choice. Community. Because that’s what makes this place different.

You don’t walk in and get what you’re given. You walk in and choose. Your meal. Your table. Your place in the room. Some folks pay full price. Others pay what they can, or pay nothing at all and volunteer.

But every single person is welcome. Same menu for everybody. Same warm smile. Same dignity. The mom paying full price for her latte? She’s covering a meal for the neighbor across the room. That neighbor who came in last week? He didn’t just get lunch—he got a kind word, a referral, and a moment of connection.

Groups like Healing Transitions, The Great Raleigh Cleanup, and No Woman, No Girl show up regularly to meet people where they are, offer support, and open doors. This is more than a café. More than delicious waffles. It’s community. It’s making sure no one has to walk through life hungry and alone.

And you, friend, are already part of it.

If you read our last letter, you know: thousands of families across North Carolina are at risk to put food on their table and have healthcare for their families. Many families are already feeling it. The rest could be next.

We’re seeing it every day. Last week was our busiest week of 8 years.
More neighbors walking through our doors.
More quiet asks like, “Can my kids and I eat?”
More people who’ve run out of options—but haven’t run out of hope.Next week, we’ll launch our year-end campaign:
The Community Table That Just Keeps Growing

Because it is. The need is growing, fast.

And we’re doing everything we can to keep making room, with your help. We have the chance to make sure there’s always a place for the next neighbor who walks through our doors.

  • $15 covers a warm, nourishing meal
  • $60 feeds a family of four
  • Every single gift makes space at the table

More stories, more ways to give, and more ways to show up are coming soon.

But for now, just know this: This place works because people like you keep pulling up chairs. We could not do this without you. And we couldn’t be more grateful.

With hugs and deep thanks,
Maggie

P.S. Can’t wait to get started? You don’t have to. Giving early helps us welcome more neighbors today.[Give early → Set a place at the table]
