Job summary

A Place at the Table (APATT) is a non-profit pay what you can cafe that is located in downtown Raleigh. Our mission is to provide community and good food for all regardless of means. We have a welcoming and inviting space that provides an opportunity for all people to experience conversation and community while enjoying an excellent, fresh, and healthy meal.

The Front of House Staff will represent the mission of A Place at the Table, bringing people together around good food. This position will be in front of house working stations such as Point of Sale, Barista, and Volunteer Lead. You will work with the General Manager and Community Manager to ensure proper execution of daily functions. You will perform a variety of tasks, from barista, stocking supplies, serving, volunteer managing, handling the cash register, cleaning tables and counters, greeting customers, and answering questions. To achieve this you’ll need to be comfortable working with all types of people, this includes showing grace, leading with compassion, and having a genuine love for people.

Front of house duties:

  • Communicating/ interacting with volunteers in a positive manner daily
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Managing floor operations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station at all times

 

Cashier & Barista duties and responsibilities:

  • Explaining our mission to new guests and greeting customers as they arrive and leave
  • Knowledge of food menu
  • Entering orders and keeping track of tickets
  • Communication with back of house and expo to manage ticket flow
  • Produce coffee drinks and serve pastries

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for Table’s mission
  • 1+ years of experience preparing and serving food or working in a retail environment
  • Nonprofit experience (either working or volunteering)
  • Familiarity with point of sale systems

 

Competencies:

  • Able to prioritize, make decisions quickly that are sound and exercise good judgment
  • Able to work quickly and accurately during busy periods
  • Able to collaborate with all staff to ensure organization mission is achieved
  • Adaptable, creative, takes initiative
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and open to learning new ways of doing things
  • Is able to stand for a 7 hour shift and lift heavy boxes up to 50 pounds

2. General Manager (Full-Time Position)

The Café Manager will represent the values of A Place at the Table and be dedicated to the goal of bringing the community together with good food. Café Manager is responsible for overall customer satisfaction, responding creatively and efficiently to customer needs.

 

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Create and supervise work schedules to ensure Café is appropriately staffed with paid staff.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Weekly check-ins with hourly employees ensuring goals are being met. Yearly Performance
    Reviews.
  • Delegate tasks to hourly employees. Ensuring proper and efficient
    functioning of the Café.
  • Works with the Community Manager to ensure volunteers are staffed.
  • Train employees and volunteers on proper customer service practices.
  • Implement new policies and protocols that will maintain future café operations.
  • Hold staff accountable for their assigned responsibilities and create plans for improvement where
    necessary.
  • Work with the Director of Operations and reports on monthly and annual revenue and expenses in the café.
  • Responsible for overall operational costs in the café.
  • Work directly with the Director of Operations, Community Manager, and Head Chef to hire and manage staff to accomplish A Place at the Table’s mission
  • Oversee all operations in café (bank deposits, catering, reservations, etc.)
  • Manage and execute groups and reservations in café.
  • Help ensure a welcoming, loving environment to everyone that walks in. Ensuring dignity and respect as well as safety and wellbeing – working with Community Manager and Security.

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Social Science preferred
  • 3+ Years Managing Food Service establishments
  • Servsafe certified or ability to achieve certification within 6 months
  • Proficient in Excel, internet and email applications
  • Experience working or volunteering with nonprofits
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry 40 lbs up and down stairs frequently.

Job summary

A Place at the Table (Table) is a non-profit pay what you can cafe that is located in downtown Raleigh. Our  mission is to provide community and good food for all regardless of means.The food truck will operate out of commissary kitchen and cafe space and will provide on-site catering for non-profit partner orgs, corporate sponsors, and special events. 

The Travelin’ Table Food Truck Lead will serve as a leadership figure on a single truck level. They shall instill

Table’s mission and exhibit its traits throughout their duties. The Truck Lead will be responsible for daily

operations for the promotion and betterment of Travelin’ Table’s business model. The truck lead will manage

the organization which shall be inclusive, and responsible to its clients, guests, volunteers, board of directors, and employees.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow and manage the company culture that is in lock step with Table’s mission
  • Assume responsibility for the daily operations of the food truck
  • Lead subordinates within the individual location
  • Coordination and execution of plans set by the General Manager and Exec. Director
  • coordinate and execute strategies to improve and grow Table’s mission and outreach within the
  • community
  • Organize daily load in/out requirements
  • Forge and maintain relationships with vendor partners, and procurement groups
  • Follow all designated food safety initiatives
  • Participate in daily operations of the food truck
  • Drive the truck
  • Preparation of all foods and beverages
  • Assist on the truck daily
  • Operate POS System daily on the truck

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience in a role in a food truck based environment.
  • Proven experience in restaurant and hospitality businesses
  • Culinary Background required
  • Strong understanding of daily food truck needs
  • Be able to think “Outside of the Box”
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership ability
  • Experience with or ability to train driving large commercial vehicles
  • Excellent oral, and written communication skills

Competencies:

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to travel outside of “Normal” work area
  • Ability to coordinate and manage large groups of people
