Executive Chef

A Place at the Table, a pay-what-you-can café opening in Raleigh, is seeking an Executive Chef (EC) to manage all aspects of food preparation and kitchen operations.  The EC will represent the values of A Place at the Table and be dedicated to the goal of bringing the community together with nutritious food.  The EC will develop and execute menus using the freshest food available with an emphasis on local production and healthy options.

Creativity is essential to help provide nutritious meals, in a small kitchen, that appeals to many different types of people. Knowledge and experience working with local vendors, farmers and other non-profits to maximize food cost and availability.  EC will work directly with the Executive Director to hire and manage staff as well as coordinate volunteers to accomplish A Place at the Table’s mission.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent applicable work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in managing, planning, and operating a food service establishment
  • Servsafe certified
  • Proficient in Excel, internet and email applications
  • Experience working in nonprofit either working or volunteering preferred

Cafe Manager

A Place at the Table, a pay-what-you-can café opening in Raleigh, is seeking a Café Manager to manage café operations.  The Café Manager will represent the values of A Place at the Table and be dedicated to the goal of bringing the community together with nutritious food.  

 

Café Manager is responsible for overall customer satisfaction, responding creatively and efficiently to customer needs.  Create and supervise work schedules to ensure Café is appropriately staffed with paid staff and volunteers.  Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.  Train employees and volunteers on proper customer service practices.  Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future café operations. Work with Executive Director to create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenue and expenses.  The Café Manager is responsible for overall operational costs.  Café Manager will work directly with the Executive Director and Executive Chef to hire and manage staff as well as coordinate volunteers to accomplish A Place at the Table’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and planning in a food service establishment
  • Servsafe certified or ability to achieve certification within 6 months.
  • Proficient in Excel, internet and email applications
  • Experience working in nonprofit either working or volunteering preferred
